ETSI TC-ITS WG2, Architecture • WG2 has 31 work items at different stages of development • Dieter Smely presents the last report of STF 395, focusing on alternative methods to achieve coexistence between CEN DSRC and ITS-G5 • For ETSI, two actions resulted: • The need for a common cross-layer meeting to discuss ITS-AID • The responsibility to decide on a "Registration Authority" is proposed to be in the EU/US task force. Resolution needed in TC-ITS • EU Mandate Roadmap schedule was determined to be “too ambitious,” meeting schedule and expert resources inadequate

Ernst, proposed as liaison officer, editor in ISO TC204 and ETSI TC-ITS WG3 of IPv6 drafts • Harmonization agreement in progress with technical discussion to agree on compatibility and interoperability between ETSI and ISO and ISO/CEN under the Vienna Agreement • To what extent does IPv6 used in IEEE Std 1609.3, ETSI and TC204 “upper layer” protocols need to be compatible? • How will Mobile Extension to IPv6 (MEXT) affect the work in IEEE 1609 WG?

  8. WG3 (continued) • TC 204 Liaison Report • T. Ernst: TC 204 WG16 has adopted two new WIs: IPv6 optimization (routing, handoff) and IPv6 security • Both complement ISO 21210 • There is also a new WI related to Geo-Networking, which is focused on aspects the Geo-Networking in the CALM architecture (such as SAPs)

  20. Observations (2) • ITS Station Architecture, adaptation of the ISO TC204 CALM Architecture is on its way to approval as European Norm (EN 302 665 and differs significantly in upper layer structure compared to 1609.0, with multi-PHY standards • Security architecture in development and not addressed in 1609.2 or 1609.0 project scopes • 5.9GHz WAVE Mode profile with EU regulatory requirements has not been converted to EN302 663 format for submission as an EN; harmonization with 802.11 maintenance draft will be needed in 2011-2012 • ISO and ETSI have appointed liaison to IETF to work on Mobile EXT to IPv6 • Concept of “HAI” portable device protocol and layer services in communication stack needs expert coordination • Advantageous to find more experts to participate in ETSI
