  1. 2013 /2014 Welcome to Glenbrook Racquet Club’s Junior Development Programs! Membership required for all junior participants that are 11 years and older Junior Development Levels The Junior Program is offered for children ages 3 – 14. Our goal is to provide instruction of the basic tennis strokes in an organized and fun environment while at the same time offering those students the opportunity to improve and make tennis their choice sport. The program is designed to offer basic instruction on the forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. In addition, on court movement to the ball, footwork, agility, and body awareness are introduced. Pricing is based on one day - per week - per session. Starters Ages 3 – 5 $250.00 (10 weeks) / $275.00 (11 weeks) This is your child’s first experience on the tennis court. At this level, the focus is on eye-hand coordination, body awareness in relation to the racquet, and eye-hand tracking of a moving ball. Here the student learns how to strike a stationary ball, a bouncing ball, and a ball in motion. We introduce “red balls” allowing the student success in getting to and hitting the ball. Tennis related games offers a fun environment while at the same time offering a learning experience. Schedule: Monday 4:00 pm – 5:00 pmThursday 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm Tuesday 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm Saturday 9:00 am – 10:00 am Wednesday 10:00 am - 11:00 am 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm Mommy/Daddy & MeAges 3 – 7 $250.00 (10 weeks) / $275.00 (11 weeks) JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS This program allows parents and their children to be involved in a structured lesson program. Here we have the parents actively involved in the class allowing the parent to understand how to work with their child when not in a structured lesson. This class option is very good for those children that initially might be a little shy. The greatest benefit of this class is that it teaches the parents how to work with the child when away from the instructor. Schedule: Wednesday 10:00 am – 11:00 am Saturday 8:00 am – 9:00 am 10:00 am – 11:00 am 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm This program introduces your child to movement to and from the ball, balance in relation to their body, coordination, and motor skill development. Here the student learns how to “self feed” the ball, and to rally with and against a partner. In addition, the student learns how to strike the ball with the racquet at various contact points. The height of the ball in relation to the stroke is emphasized in this class. The skills learned in this class will be the beginning of their tennis stroke foundation.
