HIPAA, HITECH and Information Security • Given the impact that HIPAA and HITECH have had, and will continue to have, it is critical that we maintain an effective line of communications with you and your staff. • Information Security is a process not a project. • Awareness of the risks and safeguards is the first line of defense.
Training and Awareness • Act as a facilitator for training and awareness activities between the Information Security and Privacy Office and personnel in your department. • Receive, distribute, and maintain privacy and information security information, educational materials, and resources.
Maintain Communication • Ensure inclusion of privacy and security talking points, and reminders in staff and department meetings. • Ensure privacy and information security training and awareness material is distributed to your department. • Communicate privacy and information security concerns from your department(s) to the Information Security and Privacy Office
