  2. VISION • Enhancement of production and productivity of cashew and cocoa so as to make the country self sufficient • Ensure welfare of the farming community • Meet industrial and domestic demands with a view to provide sustainable employment

  6. CONSTRAINTS Senile Cashew Plantations – 3.20 lakh ha Improper selection of planting material Inadequate TOT programme Inadequate extension measures Absence of dwarf varieties for high density planting Non priority status by State Governments. Skeleton Technical Staff at DCCD

  7. STRATEGIES • Plantation Crop status for cashew • Massive replanting programme • Abolition of tender system in procurement of planting materials • Procurement of PM from approved sources especially from Research Organisations/Corpns. • Area expansion in non traditional areas • Organizing intensive thematic campaigns • Intensive farmers training programme • Renovation of traditional processing industries • Contract farming system
