OPPORTUNITY • Focus on floodplain enrollment. • Mold RIM & WRP eligibility together to address floodplain and riparian areas. • Leverage Federal Funding from WRP – 1:1.6 • $10m State + $16m Federal = $26m • Combined payment rate formula • Collective effort of SWCDs, NRCS & BWSR! • Signup Jan. 5 – March 4, 2011. Completed application due BWSR St. Paul by March 11th.

13. Focus of program is on damaged cropland. • Non-cropland located between cropland and riparian source must be included in the easement. • Compensation for these acres limited to 50% of cropland eligible acres. Balance must be donated. • Points awarded here for those donating all of the non-crop acres.

14. Site received physical damage from recent events as a result of water movement vs. inundation. • New channel formation, deposition of material has been documented on this site.

16. Flood Frequency – Rely upon soils to document how often a site tends to flood.

17. We are not anticipating much in the way of restoration of wetlands in the floodplain. Crop cessation will be the major restoration activity. • If present, removal of dikes/levies to restore the extent of the floodplain will likely be required.

18. Our goal is to enroll the entire floodplain within the ownership unit. We would like to deal with the entire issue one time.

LANDOWNER ELIGIBILITY • Land must be owned by applicant for 7 yrs. at time of application – potential waiver. • Only privately held lands and tribal lands are eligible (no federal, state or local government lands are eligible). • All landowners must be AGI,HEL/WC compliant with Federal Food Security Act to be eligible.
