  1. Case history #1: murder or suicide • Police thinks it’s suicide • Family think it’s murder • Evidence: • Dead body in a trailer with a rifle between the legs • 2 shell casings NO located bullets • Heat was all the way up high • 1000 cash missing from the victim • Radio blasting

  2. Evidence continued • Gold calculator missing from trailer • Car door was open • Wallet was open and empty on the backseat floor • Money taken out of ATM 250 was missing

Victims actions • Were not typical of a person about to commit suicide • He went grocery shopping for a week • Paid his union dues 3 months in advance • He was renovating his home • Plans on girlfriend coming • Long term goals: buying property in alabama • Went to his sister’s bday party • Went to work the day of death

  4. Poor evidence collection • No fingerprints • Autopsy was performed by hospital coroner who couldn’t determine the point of entry or exit • No Gun shot residue was ever tested • No ballistics • Police did no follow up no background check they solved based on initial observation
