  2. History of Linocut Linocut was invented in 1860 by the artists of Die Brücke in Germany. At first they called it woodcut because it sounded more formal. Color woodcuts were made from different colors of wood.

  3. What is Linocut ? What is Linocut?Linocut is a printmaking technique that is created using woodcut which a sheet of linoleum is placed on the surface. The design is made by cutting into the linoleum surface with a chisel or sharp V-shaped knife. The uncareved areas represent the mirror image of the parts to show the print. Then the cut areas can be pulled from the back to create different looks or designs. The linoleum is impressed using an ink roller onto the paper. This can be done by hand or with a press.

  4. Who uses Linocut ? • Who has the product need? Linocut is a printmaking technique using woodcut or a sheet of linoleum paper. For this technique(linocut) you have to be very careful when using the sharp knife to cut through the paper or wood because if you slip or do not know how to use the knife correctly you could get cut. That is why for my client I will explain how to use and work linocut using pictures, text ,etc. I could also ask any questions to people who know a little more about linocut then I do, for example Mr. Single the art teacher who also uses wikispaces. This is good that he has wikispaces because then I can easily ask any questions that I might have along the way.

  6. What steps are there to Linocut ? Step 1. Carve your linocut design into the lino tile. Being very careful not to cut yourself. Step 2. Roll your chosen color onto your carved linocut design.

  7. More steps to Linocut Step 3. Place paper carefully over linocut because once you place it onto the paper it will be permanent. Step 4. You can either use a printing press or you can slowly take the paper off . The printing press makes it easier and the color darker. I prefer the printing press because you do not have to worry about the color being to light or messing up the paper.
