  2. Twilio’s Competitive Features twilio competitor Exotel is both powered on top of Twilio OpenVBX (Open Source Cloud Platform on top of Twilio's core messaging infrastructure). In terms of technical integration complexity both Kookoo & Exotel have similar looking API's, having a REST endpoint which can be invoked for placing calls/sending out SMS'es. Twilio at this moment only supports promotional SMS. This means that these SMS'es cannot be delivered between 9pm and 9am as per TRAI regulations. Kookoo primarily provides a voice messaging infrastructure somewhat similar in nature to Twilio. Kookoo recommends using Indian SMS gateways directly rather than using its own API as it doesn't lay down explicit SLA's for SMS delivery. Exotel has both voice and SMS support, and its core application is powered on top of OpenVBX. Exotel does verify its customers(as per TRAI regulations) and supports transactional SMS'es as well in addition to promotional ones. Exotel mentions some form of SLA's around message delivery but it is bound with the same norms as that specified by TRAI around promotional SMS delivery.
