  2. WORD BANK • Pressure (n)– the push when compressed air pushes back • Compressed (v. adj.)– forced into a smaller space

WORD BANK • Atmosphere – the gases surrounding earth • Meteorology – the scientific study of Earth’s weather • Meteorologist – a person who studies the weather • Severe Weather – weather that is dangerous or causes damage • Forecast – a prediction about what kind of weather to expect • Weather factors – properties of air that affect weather

  4. WORD BANK • Matter – the substance things are made of (like atoms, molecules) • Mass – the amount of matter in an object • Weight – the force an object exerts (puts out) because of gravity

  5. NOTES • Two gases that are the most plentiful in the atmosphere: • Nitrogen (N2) • Oxygen (O2) • Two gases that are variable and only found in the troposphere: • Carbon Dioxide (CO2) • Water Vapor (H2O)
