Semester Two, 2014 Calculators: How to use yours! – – Use this document to note down appropriate commands for YOURcalculator in the spaces provided on yourBasic maths and calculator skills for Statisticsand/or Basic Data Analysisworkshop handout/s Example 1: Find x and n–1 of this dataset: 12, 25, 19, 20, 35 You should get n = 5, x = 22.2, n–1= 8.5264 (4dp) Example 2: Find x and n–1 of this dataset: – – You should get n = 31, x = 0.58 (2dp), n–1= 1.1188 (4dp) 

  2. Calculators Casio fx-82AU PLUS to get single list display For MY calculator: 1. To put my calculator into statistics mode I use: Mode21 2. To clear the statistics memories I use: Mode1 3. The data entry key on my calculator is: = 4. To check the number of obs entered I use: AC Shift141= 5. I find the sample mean, x, by:AC Shift142= I find the sample standard deviation, n–1, by:AC Shift144= 6. I enter frequency data by using the following key/s between the number and its frequency: Mode21ShiftMode31 Do Example 1 and 2 from page 1 To practice your calculator skills (including frequency tables), go to the Basic maths and calculator skills for Statisticsworkshop handout. i.e. take it out of stats mode – to get freq. table display [Leila’s advice: just leave it in freq. table display permanently!]
