  3. Sexual Health Facts Nationally 1 in 9 people in the UK have had a sexually transmitted infection 1 in 10 sexually active women infected with chlamydia A person is diagnosed with an STI every 15 seconds Young people aged 16-25 are at greatest risk of an STI

  4. Sexual Health Facts Locally 400% increase in diagnosed HIV infections between 1999 and 2002 Chlamydia rates increased five times since 1995 Gonorrhoea & Syphilis rates almost three times national average in 2003 Overuse of termination services

Role of Higher Education…there’s more! • Provision of condoms & pregnancy testing • University Satellite Service • Display information on sexual health (Toilet Doors) • Participation in Chlamydia Screening Programme • Information in Student Handbook & website • Support for individual societies
