  1. Cross TimbersMiddle SchoolAthletics Meeting 2013-2014 School Year

  2. Boys Coaching Staff • Darien Mooney darien.mooney@gcisd.net • Billy Krause billy.krause@gcisd.net • Jerry Schroeder jerry.schroeder@gcisd.net • Jason DielhJason.diehl@gcisd.net • Preston DanielPreston.daniel@gcisd.net

  3. Academics/Behavior • As a member of our Wolves athletic program, you are held to higher standards. Student-athletes will: • Not receive referrals or detentions. • Pass ALL classes. (Failing will cause the student to be ineligible to play-per UIL rules and regulations.) • Will work to do their best in all classes. • Act as ladies and gentlemen in class and act in a respectful manner to all teachers. • ***Failing grades, low conduct marks, and referrals/d-halls will be addressed with extra conditioning and extra tutorials.

  4. Dress Code – Cross Country • Practice Attire: Based on weather, students should be dressed out in black shorts and grey CTMS shirt. If it is cold, students may want to wear running tights or a long sleeved performance shirt under their grey shirt. Students may also wear sweats. A good rule of thumb is to dress for 10° higher than the actual temperature because body temperature will rise during work out. Students should also invest in a watch with a stopwatch feature and a small composition book or spiral for practice. We encourage students to keep their own time and record all runs to chart improvement and set goals. • Meet Attire: Issued CTMS uniform and black running tights/ performance shirt. Wear CC t-shirt or sweats over uniform before the meet. • Meet Day Attire: Jeans and CC shirt. CC shirts will be $15.

  5. Absences When you play a team sport, you’re committed to attend every practice and game. When you’re absent you miss a chance to improve and help the team. If you miss a practice for any reason your playing time will be decreased.

  6. Transportation - Basketball • GCISD will provide transportation to and from all athletic events. All players are expected to ride the bus to and from each game. It is important that we support each other as a program. Athletes will be able to work on homework in the stands and must remain in the stands or designated area during all games except their own.

  7. Transportation – Cross Country • Students will ride the GCISD provided bus to meets, but may ride home with a parent after their race. Students must check out with Coach Mooney before leaving the meet. We must know where our athletes are at all times!

  8. Basketball Game Day Meal • Our Booster club does a wonderful job of finding the best deals for us! • Mrs. Ash has Game Day Meal Forms. The meals usually cost around $6/meal and there will be a meal provided before every game. We will need parent volunteers to pick up meals and deliver them to the athletes on game days. • All game day meals brought by parents need to be delivered to front office. Students may not wait by gym doors

  9. Volunteers/Concession Stand Workers • We will need parents to sign up to help with Concession Stand Workers throughout the entire year. The coaching staff will set up a “Sign-Up Genius” online, however, we will need a parent for each sport to help organize this fundraiser. We would not be able to have a concession stand if it weren’t for you, so thank you in advance for your help!

  10. 7th and 8th Grade Schedules Cross Country meets are held on Wednesday evenings and they began at 4:00. Boys basketball games are played on Mondays, one Tuesday, and Fridays(5:00 start). First four games play in the order of CAB and the last five games play in the order BAC. The schedule for each sport can be found on the CTMS Athletic website. The location of each school is also available under the CTMS Athletics on the Road.

  11. Meet Information • All runners will ride the buses to the meet location. Buses will be leaving CTMS around 2:15 and should be returning to school around 6:00. (Can’t run cross-country in the dark!) • If you are going to leave the meet with your parents -Make sure you have stretched out and your heart rate is back to normal. Check out with your coach. You may only leave with your parents, not someone else’s, unless prior arrangements have been made. Bring your books and clothes with you to the meet. The locker rooms will be locked while we are gone and you will not be able to get in the school. • At the meet- When we get to the meet, we will determine our camp location and this is where everyone will gather before and after your race. Hopefully, you will have time to walk your course prior to 4:00 race start. At the completion of the meet, about 5:30, we will clean the camp area and board the buses for the trip back to school. Do not leave anything at the meet. • Your parents can meet you back at the school. You will be able to call them about ten (10) minutes from the school so that they will be able pick you up at the Gym door side near the football/ soccer fields.

  12. Meet Information Cont. • Nutrition • Bring fluid replacement drinks such as Gatorade, and fruits such as apples or bananas to eat while at the meet. Your coaches would strongly recommend eating a good nutritious lunch. It would be wise to bring your lunch on meet days.  • Other things you might consider • 2 pairs of socks, a blanket or sleeping bag, warm hat and gloves, and clothing you can layer for colder days. • Coach Mooney Coach Leonard • darien.mooney@gcisd.netnikki.leonard@gcisd.net

  13. Celly • We are switching to Celly! Celly will send a text message to your device from the head coach of that grade level and sport. You may reply back to the text message and it will go directly to Coach Krause (7th Bball), Coach Schroeder (8th Bball), or Coach Mooney (CC). You may also send an email to the appropriate coach with any questions you may have about the team/practice information sent through Celly. • 7th Bball – text @wolves7thbball to 235-59 • 8th Bball – text @Wolves8thBball to 235-59 • Cross Country – text @WolvesCrossCountry to 235-59
