  1. DIFFERENT TYPES OF GAS GENERATORS AND THEIR USES DIFFERENT TYPES OF GAS GENERATORS AND THEIR USES A machine or heavy-duty device that is used for the production of gas is called a gas generator. There are many times when storing gas might not be possible or the element might not be available in gaseous form. Under such circumstances, a gas generator enters the picture. Generally, scientists use such gas generators in laboratories to create gas from either solid or liquid. Certain heavy-duty generators are applicable in the following fields – • Automobile industry • Oil fields

  2. Infrastructural projects • Textile industry • Manufacturing facilities • Chemical plants • Commercial facilities • Light production in schools and colleges • Hospitals • Hotels • Food processing factories • Landfill sites

  3. Multiple other areas require the use of different types of gas generators. Those types can be classified based on the type of gas the generator produces. They are as described here : • Nitrogen gas generator - Nitrogen is a gas that is applicable in numerous industries and laboratories. These include the food production factories - prevention of decay or rotting of produced food items, aircraft, and vehicle industry - filling up the tires of the vehicles with pure nitrogen, electronics - heat treatment of finished products as well as cleaning them and so on. • Oxygen generator - An oxygen generator purifies the air to filter out the other gases present in it like nitrogen or carbon dioxide and produce pure oxygen. This is generally used in hospitals to supply oxygen to patients.

  4. Hydrogen gas generator - A hydrogen gas generator produces hydrogen gas in the required quantity by making use of a fuel cell that separates pure hydrogen from oxygen in water molecules. They are quite efficient as they produce around 1.5 to 2.5 kilograms of hydrogen per hour. Carbon dioxide generator - Carbon dioxide is essential to help plants grow inside an enclosed environment such as a greenhouse or a nursery. Heat is also produced as a byproduct. They are generally less expensive and smaller than heavy-duty gas generators. Gas generators have a wide range of uses, a few of which are as stated below : Industrial gases - Generators are majorly used to produce industrial gases for selling purpose. For example, an oxygen tank is filled up with oxygen and is used by many different reasons that include the use of the tank while scuba diving or mountain climbing. Other than oxygen, nitrogen gas generators and hydrogen gas generators too, have their own set of tasks to do and produce the required amount of concerned gas.

  5. In wind turbines - Auxiliary power units, electric power generators and other similar options can be a bit expensive at times. That's why it is advised to make use of gas generators in wind turbines or windmills. This not only saves unnecessary wastage of money but also leads to an efficient power source to the turbines. For rocket propelling - Heavy duty gas generators are widely used as a power source for rocket propelling. To successfully launch the rocket in one go, an unimaginable amount of energy is required which is provided by the production of gas in a large quantity. The released gas provides a much-needed thrust and gives a start to the rocket launch.

  6. Automobile airbags - A large portion of people now prefer to buy cars that have the facilities of airbags. Whenever the vehicle, be it a car or jeep or even truck - collides with another vehicle, it results into the head of the driver smashing in the steering wheel, which can cause severe damage. To prevent this and ensure the safety of the driver and other passengers inside the car, airbags are installed. At the time of the crash, those airbags inflate and rise against the dashboard so that even if the driver ends up hitting his head over there, a protective layer is present to prevent any damage. Such airbags are automatically filled up with gas at the time of the accident.
