  1. What is RSV?

  2. RSV is a very common respiratory virus, particularly among children. It is the most common cause of hospitalization in children under one year of age. Pre-mature babies, very young infants & those with compromised or weakened immune systems have the highest risk of severe disease.

  3. Early symptoms of RSV may include: Dry Cough Runny Nose Low-grade Fever Sore Throat Decreased Appetite Mild Headache In very young infants (less than six months old), the only symptoms of RSV infection may be: Irritability Decreased activity Decreased appetite Apnea (pauses while breathing)

  4. If your child develops any of the below symptoms, seek immediate medical attention. - High fever - Difficulty breathing - Blue discoloration of the skin - Lethargy or excessive sleepiness - Wheezing or severe cough

  5. Take extra care to keep your children healthy by doing the following: - Wash your hands often - Avoid close contact with sick people - Cover your coughs and sneezes - Keep surfaces clean - Stay home when you are not well
