  2. Agenda • Project Background • Problem Statement and Deliverables • Use Scenarios • Customer Requirements • Engineering Requirements • Project Plan • Project Risks

  3. Project Background • Haitian life • Transportation • Plentiful fruit in Haiti • Highly wasted • Highly nutritious

  4. Problem Statement and Project Deliverables • Breadfruit needs to be preserved to make the season more profitable. • The goals of this project are to create a breadfruit processor that will result in a consistent quality flour. • The project deliverables will be a working prototype to shred and grind breadfruit effectively.

  5. Current State of Project • Benchmarking • Devices built by MET students • Broke processing into 5 steps • Food processors • Flour mill • Grater

  6. Stakeholders • Farmers in Haiti • KGPB • Sarah Brownell • NPO • Possible Investors • Haitian Market • Other 3rd world Farmers

  13. Project Plan

  14. Risks and Concerns • Finding a reliable breadfruit vendor (Spring and possibly Fall) • Receiving parts on time to meet project deliverables • Dryer MSD team missing deadline/requirements needed to proceed • Finding locally available materials to use for the shredder/grinder mechanisms • Making a product durable enough for high usage. • Reliability of product in a harsh environment (rain, dust, etc) • Risk of injury due to blades/sharp edges on shredder • Risk of injury due to blades/grinders in the grinder • Risk of injury from exposed gears or mechanisms • Risk of injury from hand/finger entrapment in shredder or grinder
