  2. WHO INVENTED THE LIGHT BULB? THOMAS EDISON, Thomas Alva Edison, INVENTED THE LIGHT BULB, YEAR 1879. HE WAS BORN IN OHIO, USAON 11TH FEBRUARY 1847 HE PASSED AWAY ON 18TH OCTOBER 1931

DID THOMAS EDISON REALLY INVENT THE LIGHT BULB? • NO, he didn't "invent" the light bulb, but rather he improved upon a 50-year-old idea. • The first electric light was made in 1800 by Humphry Davy, a British chemist. He experimented with electricity and invented an electric battery. When he connected wires to his battery and a piece of carbon, the carbon glowed, producing light. This is called an electric arc. • Humphry Davy : • Born in  Penzance, Cornwall, England on the 17th December 1778 • Passed away on the 29th May 1829

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EDISON’S LIGHTBULB? • They wouldn't have to light a candle therefore minimizing the risk of a fire starting out. • People could now have light at the flick of a switch. • Not only was the invention of a light bulb another light source it was the discovery of using electricity.

  9. WHAT IS SO INTERESTING ABOUT THE LIGHT BULB? THE LIGHT BULB USES ELECTICITY TO LIGHT UP. A new filament material was created and placed within a bulb, which created light for more than 1500 hours.
