  1. How to stop snoring naturally without any complications

  2. Snoring is caused due to an interrupted air flow through the nose and throat while breathing when you sleep. This phenomenon makes the relaxed throat tissues vibrate and causes familiar snoring sounds. Apart from disrupting the sleep of your partner, snoring may be a sign of a serious health condition like obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, an issue with mouth, nose, or throat, and sleep deprivation. Snoring can also be caused because of drinking too much alcohol before hitting the bed or sleeping on your back. Here are some home remedies that will help you get rid of snoring.

  3. Natural home remedies to reduce snoring • 1. Lose weight • Overweight people are more likely to snore. Fatty tissue and poor muscle tone, especially around the throat make one snore. So this gives you another reason to lose weight. • 2. Limit intake of alcohol before hitting the bed • Alcohol can relax the throat muscles which causes snoring. So avoid alcohol consumption, two hours before going to sleep. • 3. Change your sleep position • When you sleep lying on your back, it makes the base of your tongue and soft palate collapse to the back wall of your throat. This makes one snore. Sleeping sideways can reduce snores. • 4. Pineapple, oranges, and bananas • If you are getting quality sleep, snores are bound to get reduced. This can be achieved by increasing the intake of melatonin in the body. Melatonin makes one sleepy and pineapples, oranges and bananas are rich in it.

  4. 5. Elevating the head • One can use additional pillows to elevate the head. It opens the airways and reduces snoring. There are some pillows available in the market as well that keeps the head in an elevated position. One can also elevate the head of the bed by four inches to open the airways. • 6. Stop smoking • Smoking irritates the airways which worsens the condition of snoring. • 7. Ginger and honey tea • Ginger has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It increases saliva secretion. This leads to providing relief to the throat and snoring. Drink honey and ginger tea twice a day to reduce snoring. • 8. Avoid sedative medicines, sleeping pills • Sedative medicines make one get a very deep sleep which gives the throat a lot of relaxation and causes snoring.

  5. 9. Extra virgin olive oil • Getting extra virgin olive oil before sleeping also smoothens up the airways. It also prevents throat muscles to block the throat during sleep. • 10. Cut down on inflammatory foods • Dairy and gluten products are known to cause inflammation in nose and throat tissues. One should not entirely stop consuming milk but a glass of plain tea some time before hitting the bed is a good way to reduce snoring. • 11. Garlic, onion, and horseradish • Having strong aromatic foods like garlic, onion and horseradish prevent drying of the nose and reduce congestion. A study also claims that these food products also decrease swelling in the tonsils and prevent sleep apnea. You can either chew the garlic/onion/horseradish before going to bed if you do not care about the smell or can even add it to your dinner. • 12. Soy milk • You might be shocked to know that dairy products can also cause snoring as it increases phlegm. This happens because some particular proteins of cow milk can cause mild to severe allergic reactions, which promote congestion and closes the nasal passages, and increases snoring. Swap your cow milk with soy milk or non-dairy milk for relief. • 13. Extra virgin olive oil • Sipping some extra virgin olive oil before going to bed can also smoothen up the airways. It also prevents the throat muscles from blocking the throat when you sleep. • Still wondering 'How to stop snoring naturally', check online for more remedies.
