  2. The Facts, Please! • Sheep are mentioned in the Bible more than any other animal-about 750 times in all. They were an important part of the lives of people who lived in Bible times. Their wool was spun into cloth ad their meat was eaten. Sometimes sheepskins were worn for clothing. The horns were used as containers for carrying oil. A curved ram’s horn, when cut off at the end, became a musical horn, which the Jews called a shofar.

  3. More Facts, Please! • Sheep are used in the Bible as object lessons to teach us about God and about ourselves. By nature, sheep often wander away from where they should be, unless they have someone to lead them in the right way. Because we are all sinners and have wandered away from God we are like sheep that have gone astray.
