  10. Auditor’s Report Dear Members, I have reviewed the books and records of the Mississippi Lakes Association for the year ended December 31, 2011 as prepared and presented to me by Bryon Edwards. In my opinion, these records fairly and completely represent the activities of the Association for the period ended December 31, 2011. Water Levels Co-operative effort with MVC MLA volunteers provide weekly rainfall data to MVC MVC provides water level data to MLA Graph updated weekly on MLA Website includes year to date levels, historical average levels and target range useful to determine whether water level changes may affect docks and boat lifts Water levels and flows much lower than normal for this time of year Mississippi Lakes Association Mississippi Lakes Association 18

Marker BuoysEd Carew • All Marker Buoys were installed on May 18 • The Miss L.A. pontoon boat (barge) working very well after significant repairs in 2010. • Marker buoy locations shown on Website, Newsletter Maps, and laminated maps (for sale @ $5.00 per map) • Marker buoy co-ordinates for Magellan and Garmin hand held GPS units are available for download. Send an email to me (Ed Carew) @ email info@lakemississippi.ca • Status of FOCA Private marker buoys • - trial buoy worked well • - over $300 in donations to buy more • - cost for 10 buoys (delivered) is $465 Mississippi Lakes Association Mississippi Lakes Association 20

Loon Survey, 2011 Results from the 2011 survey at Mississippi Lake include the following overall loon counts: 1st Lake:  4 Adults  1 Mated Pair 2nd Lake: 14 Adults 1 Young  5 Mated Pairs 3rd lake:  4 Adults 1 Young 2 Mated Pairs Big Lake:  13 Adults 3 Young 3 Mated Pairs Mississippi Lakes Association Mississippi Lakes Association 21

Water Quality Sampling Program 2002 - MVC sampled Mississippi Lake (Watershed Watch Program–5 year cycle) 2006 - Initiated an Annual Sampling Program in partnership with MVC Followed the Watershed Watch Protocol 2007 - Lake Partner Program Sampling & Watershed Watch (MVC re-sampled) Although results are encouraging, MLA decided to expand on the program Mississippi Lakes Association 25

  26. 2011 Water Quality Sampling Partnership with MVC (supplied equipment & covered cost of lab samples again) Lake was sampled 3 times Re-sampled with MOE Lake Partner Program & OFAH Invasive Species Monitoring Program Re-sampled 2 additional sites for phosphorus including inlet and outlet Residents need to practice stewardship 2011 – Resampled 2 main sites, including inlet and outlet, in partnership with MVC 2012 – MVC will resample Watershed Watch, Invasives, Algae & Seine netting Programs Mississippi Lakes Association 26

Status and Plan for 2012 Budget approved for 2012 ($30,250) Cheques issued for a total of $24,349 for 2011 81% take up by Road Associations in 2011, down from 93% in 2010 Several roads did not apply in 2011 (reasons unknown) Quality of applications is steadily improving ( Rathwell Shore) Dead line for applications is 4 pm on Nov 30th with zero tolerance Application form on Township website (get started now) Be sure changes to Association executive don’t effect application Associations should acknowledge grants received by email/letter PREP has been a catalyst for more formalization of Road Associations Budget for PREP must be justified and approved every year Road Associations must remain diligent to assure PREP continues Mississippi Lakes Association
