2. Thomas Earl Petty  was born on October 20, 1950 and he died on October 2, 2017. • He is regarded as a reputed American singer and songwriter. He was a multi-instrumentalist and a record producer. He had worked as an actor. He has been lead singer along with guitarist of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. The band was created in 1976. He had been the leader of band named Mudcrutch. He had been member of 1980s named Traveling Wilburys

3. Petty had several hit singles at Heartbreakers. He had also gained recognition as the solo artist. The hit singles of Heartbreakers are “Don’t Do Me Like That” which was launched in 1979. Then he performed Refugee in 1980. In 1981, he launched “The Waiting.” In 1985, he published “Don’t Come Around Here No More.” The hit singles in the form of solo consist of “I Wont Back Down” in 1989, then comes “Free Fallin” in the year 1989, “You Don’t know how it feels” in 1994.

He had become the best-selling music artists of all time!!! • He had gained the position of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the year 2002. • Petty had left this earth and the cause of death was accidental drug overdose and it occurred on October 2, 2017. 5. Petty was born on October 20, 1950 at Florida in a region named Gainesville. He has been the first one out of the two sons of Kitty or Katherine Petty who worked as a worker at the tax office and his father was Earl Petty who had the grocery store. • Bruce is the brother of Petty and he has been seven years younger than him.

6. He developed a keen interest in Rock and Roll Music at 10 years. He had met Elvis Presley. It is great coincidence that in 1961 summer, his uncle has been involved in the film of Presley named Follow That Dream close to Ocala. Petty was invited to observe the shooting. He turned out to be a great fan of Elvis Presley. He had a friend named Keith Harben who greeted him. He had traded the Wham-O slingshot with the Elvis collection of 45s.

7. There was interview in 2006, Petty remarked that he had the desire to be a band member. He has been inspired by Beatles at a show named The Ed Sullivan Show. • Petty had given an interview at CBC in the year 2014 and in this interview, Petty shared that Rolling Stones has been "my punk music.” He wanted to create that rock and roll.

8. The first teacher in guitar was Don Felder who lived in Gainesville. Don Felder became part of Eagles. Petty had worked for University of Florida. He did not became a student. He had planted a tree named Ogeechee lime tree during his work at that university. It has been recognized as Tom Petty tree. He had also worked as the gravedigger.

9. Petty had a tough time with father. His father has shared that he was a "a mild-mannered kid who was interested in the arts". He had been subjected to physical and verbal abuse. Petty had narrated the father in the form of "wild, gambling drinker guy". Petty has been quite close to his mother and he has been close to Bruce, his brother.
