  3. Open Source Initiative • Non profit group. • Dedicated to promoting open source projects. • Certification of open office license. • Not a governing body.

  4. Free Distribution Source Code Derived Works Integrity of source code No discrimination against any person, group, or endeavor Distribution of license License must be product non-specific License must not restrict other software. License must be technology neutral OSI Certification Criteria

  5. OpenOffice.org Mission Statement: “To create, as a community, the leading international office suite that will run on all major platforms and provide access to all functionality and data through open-component based APIs and an XML-based file format.”

  6. Features • Office Productivity Suite includes: • Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Base, and Math • Created as an office suite, not individual applications. All have the same: • Look • Tools • Spellchecker
