  2. Important Components Of POS The functioning or operation of the Point Of Sale system is the coordination between all the components in the system. Some essential components that make up the Point of sale system include cash drawers, receipt printers, barcode scanner, and label printers. Each of these products works together and creates an in-store network. The devices communicate over this network and exchange information to carry out inventory preparation and billing activities. Further slides explain some of these crucial components of POS.

  4. RECEIPT PRINTER One of the most critical tasks performed by the Point Of Sale system is to prepare a bill for the customers. This bill contains the amount due for payment by a customer corresponding to the products they have bought. This bill must be presented to the customer in hard copy form. This task is the responsibility of the receipt printer. The receipt printer prints out an invoice for the customer to tally with the products they bought.

  5. BARCODE SCANNER While the bill is being prepared, each product is checked in to add to the final bill amount. To make sure that this billing is done accurately, every product bears a unique barcode label. This label is scanned by the barcode scanner to obtain a unique identity number. This number or code helps in the retrieval of product data from the inventory. The barcode scanner varies in operation depending on the type of barcode label it can scan. These may be 1d or 2d barcodes.

  6. LABEL PRINTERS The task of inventory is also an essential function of Point of sale system. This involves cataloguing and labelling all the items that are available in the store. The inventory is traditionally done manually by the employees, which makes it very time consuming. This delay is where the use of the label printer becomes evident. These are thermal printers that are responsible for printing out high quality labels for the products. They are compatible with most label paper rolls that facilitate easy and fast labelling of the products.
