Odyssey of the Mind, National History Day, Mighty Mu, Science Olympiad, Stock Market Challenge, Future Cities, Essay Contests, Art Exhibitions, Interact, Builders Club, Principal’s Multicultural Committee, Girlfriends, 5000 Role Models and more! TEAM SPORTS!Volleyball, Basketball, & Track ARTS!Programs dedicated to the fine arts and music! Highlights include Visual Art, Chorus, Orchestra, Highland Dance, and our award winning Pipe Band! TECH! Smart Classrooms: Smart Boards, Smart Response Systems, Video Recording Technology, iPads & Computer Labs! Students earn enrolled in tech courses can earn Microsoft Industry Certification. We also have afterschool STEM!

  4. Stay Organized! – Lockers, & Binders! • All 6th graders expected to use a LOCKER! This is the best place to secure your belongings! Reminder: Do not share your combination with anyone. Lockers will be assigned during the first weeks of school. Students must purchase a lock from the school ($5) in order to be assigned a locker. You are not permitted to carry bags from class to class. • All 6th graders are expected to use a BINDER! The AVID binder is an organizational tool to help students maintain notes and school work in one place. Students are expected to maintain a binder, along with all of the necessary items needed. They are expected to keep it organized using the AVID methods they will be taught.

  5. School Hours & Schedule School Hours: 9:40am – 4:10pm. Breakfast begins at 9:10am 7 Period Day 4 Required Courses (Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies (1) of each). 1 Elective course 1 Physical Education course 1 Reading class is required for all 6th graders *Reading class and/or Math Intervention is provided to students who are below the proficiency level as measured by the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA). 30 minutes of lunch daily 4 minutes of passing time between classes

  6. School Lunch and Breakfast • School Lunch costs $2.50 per student per day • If your family has needs, please make sure you fill out the free/reduced lunch app next Fall • School Breakfast is free for all students

  7. Communication • Starting in July, you will receive weekly phone calls from the Principal on Monday nights at 6:00pm • The same phone call will go out in an email to all parents with an email address in Portal • The email version will include web links and attachments of documents discussed in the message • To make sure your phone number and email are up to date, login to your Portal account and update them
