PRESEASON SCHEDULE Monday: Morning – 8am Afternoon – 1pm Evening – 5:30pm Tuesday: Morning – 8am Afternoon – 1pm Evening – 6:30pm Meal Times: ALL MEALS ARE MANDATORY Breakfast – On Your Own Lunch – 11:30a-12:30p Dinner – 4:30p-5:30p Wednesday: Morning – 9:30 am Afternoon – 1:30 Scrimmage at ECSU – 7pm (Leave at 4:45p) Thursday: Morning – 8am Afternoon – 1pm Evening – 5:30pm Friday: Morning – 8am Afternoon – 1pm Evening – 5:30pm Saturday: Morning – 8am

  3. PRESEASON SCHEDULE Some notes on the week *Report to Athletic Center 30 mins before each session. *This is not high school soccer *Trainer *Proper gear is to be worn at all times. Here is the answer to your question now – YES, SHINGUARDS ARE NECESSARY FOR THIS. *Inhalers *Equipment, Water and Ice *Meals are mandatory for all players *Compliance meeting will be next week. *Dorm Behavior 1) No guests 2) No alcohol or drugs 3) Quiet Hours – go to bed early

NO EXCUSES! *PROGRESS REPORTS WILL BE HANDED IN TWICE DURING THE SEASON. *Class before practice during the season *You can miss class for travel for games *Buy the books *Communicate with your profs about missed class time *I get all attendance reports every week *Your Grades will determine your eligibility

SOCIAL MEDIA EDUCATION Highlights from new survey by On Device Research and CareerBuilder *Ask yourself the following: *Why are you on Social Media? *Who is your audience? *What is on your Social Media? *Will a prospective employer hire you if they viewed your Social Media? *The Numbers *8% of US Job seekers ages 16-24 have lost a job opp. because of something on their Social Media profiles. *70% of teens and young adults said they weren’t worried about what’s on their own Social Media *40% of all hiring managers use Social Media to screen potential employees. *Why aren’t you getting hired? *49% said profiles had inappropriate comments/photos *45% said profiles had comments/photos that showed candidates drinking or using drugs *35% said profiles showed poor communication skills. *33% said potential candidates criticized a previous employer. *28% said potential candidates made discriminatory/offensive comments. *22% said profiles proved potential candidates lied about their qualifications.

POSITIONAL NUMBERS 1: Goalkeeper 6: Holding Midfielder 9: Attacking Midfielder 2/3: Outside Backs 7: Box-To-Box Midfielder 10: Central Striker 4/5: Center Backs 8/11: Flanks Because of our personnel and the flexibility of this system, we will be using a 4-2-3-1 Easily converts to a 4-4-2 Easily converts to a 4-5-1 Easily converts to a 4-3-3 Defensive balance Attack with up to 7-8 Constant pressure.

POSITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1: GOALKEEPER • DISTRIBUTION • Early and quick release to initiate counter-attack • Later release to play out from defending third • PUNT – Get ball up and out to wing • EVERYTHING ELSE • Keep ball out of net • Limit rebounds • Be a communicator to defenders 2/3: OUTSIDE BACKS • Receive and play the ball in defensive third. • Run with/without the ball into midfield with speed and control. • Can deliver a ball with either foot over varying distances. • Can adapt to different defending situations quickly and affectively. • Get up the field and provide services.

  10. 4/5: CENTER BACKS • Receive and play the ball in the defensive third. • Understand the priorities of defending and the concepts of defensive safety and risk • Provide pressure and cover for each other. • Have explosive speed over 5-15 yards. • Are mentally adaptable to a variety of defensive situations. 6: HOLDING MIDFIELDER • Position yourself as the “top” of the triangle with Center Backs. • Eliminate opposition midfield players. • Switch point of attack. • Make appropriate passes forward simply or deceptively. • Press, track, slow their counter. • WIN TACKLES 7: BOX-TO-BOX MIDFIELDER • Run into attacking spaces aggressively • Press, track, mark as needed. • Have one-touch passing skills with both feet over varied distances. • Strike accurate shots on distances up to 25 yards from different angles.

  11. 8/11: FLANKS • Become best friends with the 2/3 • Deliver appropriate crosses of the ball • Every Cross MUST include the following • Velocity • Swerve – Eliminate the GK • Flatness – DO NOT LOFT your crosses. • Four (4) Attacking Spaces • Front Post – Like a shot • Back Post – Half Chip, Half Driven • Second Six – Ball is driven into here • Top of 18 – Cross from endline, on the ground • Press support, trackin defensive roles as needed. • Read/interpret defensive situations and attack them appropriately. • Be the back post player on crosses from other flank.

  12. 9: ATTACKING MIDFIELDER • Combine with the 10 and/or the 7 in attacking situations • Strike ball accurately at goal from distances up to 25 yards. • Have one-touch passing skills over varying distances. • Move into goal scoring opportunities inside the penalty box. • Eliminate the opposing teams midfield players by dictating speed of play. • Work with the 10 to press opposing teams back line when they are in possession of ball. 10: CENTRAL STRIKER • Understand how to position yourself around defenders to create maximum advantage • Hold ball when necessary while awaiting support. • Can link with supporting players using one/two touch passes. • Escape man-marking using change of speed movements. • Have explosive speed over 5-20 yards distance. • Turn with the ball as frequently as possible. • Take on defenders in a 1v1 situation as aggressively and decisively as possible.
