    4. Dedicated Educators: Alice Davis Miss Alice Davis was one of the most well known and loved teachers in St. Charles. After attending school in St. Charles, Miss Davis attended Northwestern University in Evanston. In 1918 she returned to St. Charles to teach at the Haines School. In 1956 Davis School was dedicated in her honor. Miss Davis retired in 1958 after 40 years of service to the St. Charles School District.

    5. Dedicated Educators: Amelia Anderson Miss Amelia Anderson was the first school nurse in St. Charles. She established a program to bring milk into the schools for the students and made sure all students had access to medical and dental care. Miss Anderson served the St. Charles schools until her retirement in 1941. Anderson School was dedicated in Miss Anderson’s honor in 1956.

    6. Dedicated Educators: Helen Munhall & Mae (Munhall) Driscoll In 1959 Munhall School was dedicated to Helen Munhall and her sister Mae (Munhall) Driscoll. Both women were long-time educators in St. Charles. Helen was a 7th and 8th grade teacher before becoming the Junior High Principal in 1952. Mae taught at both the West Side and Haines Schools before serving as Principal at Lincoln School for fourteen years. Mae was also the first Principal at Munhall School.

    7. Community Leaders: The Baker and Norris Families In 1918 Edward Baker and his niece Dellora Norris received $38 million from their relative John Gates. Over the years the Baker and the Norris families used that money to build up St. Charles. Some of the many buildings that the families donated over the years include Delnor Hospital, the Municipal Building, and the Baker Community Center. The generosity of these families continues today.
