  3. Passive Listener: Someone who believes that communication lies in the person talking. Listens without evaluating what is heard. • Active Listener: Listener that provides feedback about what they hear to the speaker, by way of re-stating or paraphrasing what they have heard in their own words, to confirm what they have heard and understand. Types of Listener

  4. Appreciative Listening: allows individuals to listen for entertainment or enjoyment, such as when we listen to poetry or music. 2. Discriminative Listening: Singling out one particular sound from a noisy environment. Four Ways of Listening

  5. 3. Empathic Listening: Listening to understand what another person is thinking and feeling. 4. Critical Listening: Evaluate what is heard and decide if message is logical, worthwhile, or has value Four Ways of Listening
