European influence • The Kingdom of Sancho III was mainly directed to the north =>Vasconia, Wasconia, Gascony. • Sancho III made it possible that people of different countries of Europe could enter the north of Spain, so he wanted to establish a better relationship between the people of Europe.

What did he do? • His most obvious legacy=> Wasconia in the north. • He spread the frontiers of his kingdom to all the Basque speaking people of the time. • He made the Basque-Navarrese Kingdom of Iruñea-Pamplona stronger, politically stable and independent. • He made his kingdom a way open to European ideas and people.

The history of The St. James Way • At the end of 8th century the legend which told that Saint James the apostle was buried in Compostela. made people walk the way of Saint James. • It made the exchange of ideas, beliefs, technology and all kinds of human contact among Europeans easier. • Nowadays thousands of pilgrims walk the way of Saint James. • Identified =>shell symbol.

Why is he our European hero? • Sancho III is our European Hero because he created one of the most important commercial and cultural ways that ever existed, The Way of Saint James. • He created one of the most important exchanges of ideas, beliefs, technology and all kind of human contact among Europeans. • We hope that one day all nations will have a president like Sancho III !!
