Whether you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or graduation – a cake is a MUST HAVE! But many of us don’t have time to make our own, so how do we make sure we can get quality pre-make vegan cakes for our celebrations? Just pop to the supermarket, of course! Here, we will round up some of the BEST vegan birthday cakes at morrisons readily available in UK supermarkets. (If you’re interested in supermarket vegan food – check out our review of the Tesco Wicked Range). I will also be rating each supermarket on their vegan cake range because I feel like it.
Tesco Tesco offers an impressive range of vegan cakes, including vegan sheet cakes, decorative vegan celebration cakes and vegan cupcakes. The Belgium Chocolate and Raspberry Cake – rated 4.4 stars on the Tesco website makes for a decadent, rich and fudgy celebration cake that would leave anyone satisfied. Other Vegan Cake Options At Tesco: Just Love Food Vegan Chocolate Cake Just Love Food Vegan Vanilla Cake BOSH Luscious Lemon Cake BOSH Ultimate Chocolate Cake ● ● ● ● Rating: 4 out of 5 – The most extensive range of vegan cakes on offer, but not a huge flavour range.
Sainsbury’s Sainsbury’s don’t have the same large range of vegan cakes that Tesco offers, but they do have brands of vegan cakes that Tesco doesn’t stock. Their cakes are rated 4.5 stars on the Sainsbury’s website, and they have a whole range of flavours, including vanilla and Victoria sponge cake! Other Vegan Cake Options At Sainsbury’s: Lazy Day Free From Chocolate Celebration Cake (GF) Just Love Food Company Vegan Chocolate Cake Deliciously Ella Fudgy Chocolate Brownie (GF) ● ● ● Rating: 3 out of 5 – Small range of cakes but some unique brands like Lazy Day and Deliciously Ella.
ASDA If you ask me, then ASDA really takes the cake (get it?) when it comes to plant-based cakes. Why? Because they offer a decent range of decorated vegan cakes! It’s super cute, fun and relevant to vegans because of the avocado decoration. (It is kind of expensive though – £11!) Other Vegan Cake Options At ASDA: Oggs Chocolate Fudge Cake Oggs Victoria Sponge Cake Oggs Zesty Lemon Cake Bells & Whistles 2 Nut Truffle Cake Slices Bells & Whistles 2 Berry & Cashew Cake Slices BOSH Chocolate Happy Birthday Cake ● ● ● ● ● ● Rating: 3.5 out of 5 – Good range but a bit expensive.
Morrisons Morrisons is the only supermarket on this list to offer jam tarts, but that’s almost all they offer when it comes to vegan cakes. These jam tarts are a lovely bite-sized type of vegan cake, but they won’t cut it if you have a big celebration and want to do the whole slowly-walk-out-with-the-cake-and-candles-while-singing awkwardly thing, you’re gonna need a proper cake! Other Vegan Cake Options At Morrisons: Lazy Day Foods Free From Millionaire’s Shortbread ● Rating: 1 out of 5 stars – almost no range of cakes. With a Plant Sumo meal subscription, you can get vegan sweet treats like our Pumpkin Pancakes delivered straight to your door. (That’s right, vegan dessert without even leaving the house!) Don’t fancy pancakes? We’ve got a whole menu full of healthy and convenient plant-based foods.
