  2. Geography • Chile is a narrow country. Its whole western border is the coastline of the Southern Pacific Ocean • Bolivia is landlocked and nearly three times the size of Montana • Ecuador is slightly smaller than Nevada • Peru is slightly smaller than Alaska

  3. Struggles • All four nations are facing environmental struggles due to deforestation and industrial pollution • Civil rioting and looting in Bolivia have caused instability in the government • Ecuador and Peru are facing the ramifications of extremely high unemployment rates

The Salvation Army Meeting Needs The Salvation Army is meeting needs through many avenues including 79 corps (centers of worship and service) and 21 outposts For example, The Salvation Army is working in Guamote and Cocha-Loma, Ecuador. Guamote is 13,500 feet above sea level and Cocha-Loma is 1,500 feet higher still. Many people in these areas still live in grass huts and The Salvation Army officer (minister) serving there visits those in need on horseback.
