  1. Quitter One that ceases normal, expected, or necessary action; one who forsakes or abandons. One that gives up too easily; a defeatist. - Webster’s Dictionary

  2. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Rom 3:23 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 Jn 1:10

  3. My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 Jn 2:1

  4. Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people. Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them.

  5. And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude. Lk 22:1-6

  6. And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came up, accompanied by a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I shall kiss, He is the one; seize Him.” Mt 26:47-48

  7. But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” Lk 22:48

  8. Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What is that to us? You see to it!” Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. Mt 27:3-5

  9. Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered.’ But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.” But Peter answered and said to Him, “Even though all may fall away because of You, I will never fall away.”

  10. Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you that this very night, before a cock crows, you shall deny Me three times.” Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” Mt 26:31-35

  11. Having arrested Him, they led Jesus and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed at a distance. Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man was also with Him.” But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”

  12. And after a little while another saw him and said, “You also are of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not!” Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean.” But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.

  13. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly. Lk 22:54-62

  14. But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea, and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words.” (Opening statement to the first gospel sermon.) Acts 2:14

  15. Judas was a “quitter.” (He gave up easily…he was a “defeatist.”) Peter was not a “quitter.” (He repented & was useful again to the Lord.)

  16. God won’t “quit” on us unless we first “quit” on ourselves.

  17. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Heb 13:5-6

  18. Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. Heb 10:35-36

  19. We have assembled to worship Him who gave the ultimate for us. We have His inspired word to teach us not to sin. If we sin, we don’t need to quit. We need to repent & do better.

  20. Please join us as we worship the merciful God who grants us the opportunity to repent when we have failed Him.
