  2. Boris Nikolayevich Chitcherin

  3. Family • One of a noble family of Tambov noblemen was Boris Nikolayevich Chicherin – the historian, the publicist, the lawyer. He was born in Tambov. In the childhood he lived in his father’s manor. It was situated in Inzaveno area.

  4. Education • Boris Nikolayevich has ended the Tambov man's grammar school and the Moscow university. In 1849 he returned to Tambov and was engaged in scientific activity. He was interested in history of Russian establishment in the 18th century. His dissertation which was successfully protected in 1856 also has been devoted this theme.

  5. Books • Since 1861 B. N.Chicherin worked at faculty of law of the Moscow university. In 1868 he returned to the father’s manor and worked unusually fruitfully: has written «History of political doctrines» in five volumes, "Legal philosophy", "Memoirs" in four volumes.

  6. Boris Nikolayevich Сhicherin died on the 3rd of March in 1904. But the rich heritage of the talented scientist and the founder of Russian political science is interested of modern researchers.

  7. There are many exhibitions giving a fuller appreciation about life and activity of Boris Nikolayevich - one of brilliant representatives of a sort of Chicherin in G.V.Chicherin's House museum in Tambov.

  8. The Museum • . G. V. Chitcherin's House museum was opened on the 12th of December in 1987. It takes place in the former mansion of city manor of the Russian diplomat in V. N. Chitcherin's (father G. V. Chitcherin) resignation.

  9. George Chicherin • The wooden house with an attic simulates stone architecture was built in the 19th century. Here since 1877 grew George Vasilevich Chicherin who was the known domestic diplomat, the National commissioner on foreign affairs of the USSR in 1918-1930, the historian, the publicist, the musician and the musicologist.

  10. Georgy Chicherin was born in an aristocratic family. His father, Vasily N. Chicherin, was a diplomat in the service of the Russian Empire. As a young man, Chicherin became fascinated with history as well as classical music, especially Richard Wagner. He spoke all major European languages and a number of Asian ones. After graduating from St. Petersburg University with a degree in history and languages, Chicherin worked in the archival section of the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1897 until 1903.

  11. In 1904 Chicherin inherited the estate of his celebrated uncle — Boris Chicherin — in the Tambov region and became very wealthy. He immediately used his new found fortune to support revolutionary activities in the runup to the Russian Revolution of 1905 and was forced to flee abroad to avoid arrest later in the year. He spent the next 13 years in Western Europe, mostly London, Paris and Berlin.

  12. In this house in 70 – 80 of XIX century there lived his uncle, the outstanding scientist and public figure Boris Nikolayevich Chicherin. Two memorial boards remind of these events on a building facade. G. V. Chicherin's House .museum is the research and cultural and educational establishment. Scientifically-educational work of the House museum of G. V. Chicherin is various. There are nine different rooms.
