ENDOMETRIOSIS • Presence of functioning endometrial glands and • stroma outside uterine cavity • Involvement of the bowel occurs in approx 5% • of cases (rectum is the most frequent location) • followed by distal ileum and appendix • Intestinal endometriosis is often difficult to • diagnose owing to rare nature of disease • Management: hormonal therapy, segmental • surgical resection for cases that failed medical • therapy
