Strategic Objective #1: Cultivate the Treasures Within Our Neighborhoods • Goals, Part One: * Foster leadership and church growth and retention strategies that capitalize on local opportunities * Motivate congregations to expand their horizons of mission and ministry; nudge them out of their comfort zones. *Better equip laity and clergy for ministry These goals are being addressed by the “Church Growth and Christian Leadership Commission” headed by Win Fernald, Peggy Bryan, and Ann Wright and reporting to Bishop Mary

  3. B. Goals, Part Two: * Cross-cultural understanding and integration * Intergenerational participation These goals are being addressed by the “Cross-Cultural and Intergenerational Commission” headed by Rob Fisher and reporting to Jesus. 

  4. II. Strategic Objective #2: Building Leadership for the Future • Goals, Part One: * Reduce cost of employee benefits to congregations by creating a congregational wellness fund. This goal is being addressed by the "Fund Development Commission" or "Capital Campaign Commission" (TBD) This group is responsible for the Annual Campaign and the Capital Campaign for ECR. It is headed by Phil Boyce and reports to Bishop Mary.

  5. B. Goals, Part Two: *Create a culture of healthy stewardship in our diocese • This goal is being addressed by the "Diocesan Stewardship Commission" headed by Channing Smith and reporting to Brian. • This Team needs volunteers

  7. III. Strategic Objective #3: Strengthen Our Connection with One Another and the Wider World • Goals, Part One: * Increase accessibility of Mission House by moving it to Salinas This goal is being addressed by the "Salinas Relocation Taskforce” headed by Steve Pearson and reporting to Brian.

  8. B. Goals, Part Two:*Cultivate community and global partnerships in areas of broad and mutual interest This goals is being addressed by the "Global Partnership Commission" headed by Peter Troop and reporting to Jesus and working with Jesus to come up with an expanded scope.

Goals, Part Three:* Broaden our diocesan communications strategy • This goal is being addressed by the "Communications Commission" headed by Heidi Zamzow and reporting to Bishop Mary.  • This Team needs volunteers especially people who are skilled in: • Social media • Journalism/blogging • Photography and videography • Graphic designers and desktop publishers • Website design/architecture • Marketing/test marketing • Working with focus groups

STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR 2013 • INTEGRATE OBJECTIVES INTO THE DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS OF THE DIOCESE • EACH OBJECTIVE WILL REPORT TO EITHER BISHOP MARY, JESUS OR BRIAN • I WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE IN AN OVERSIGHT ROLE • 2011 WAS A YEAR FOR STRATEGIC PLANNING • 2012 WAS A YEAR OF RESEARCH AND STUDY • 2013 IS THE YEAR OF ACTION! IT IS TIME TO IMPLEMENT THE STRATEGIC PLAN. • EACH TEAM IS DEVELOPING AN ACTION PLAN • Leaders will report monthly on their Smart Objectives-SPECIFIC, MEASUREABLE, ACHIEVABLE, RESULTS ORIENTED AND TIME CERTAIN
