Understanding Sexting Among Teens: Risks, Statistics, and Consequences

Sexting, the act of sending explicit images or messages via cell phones, is more prevalent among teens than many realize. Recent statistics reveal that 22% of teen girls and 18% of boys have sent nude content. Furthermore, 37% of teen girls and 40% of boys share sexually suggestive messages. A significant number of teens send such content to their partners, often citing fun or flirtation as reasons. However, the risks are serious, including potential felony charges for those caught in possession or distribution of explicit material involving minors.
