NEED • To create Holistic learning environment – WSDP • Prototype design does not always fit in the existing school space • To optimize utilization of available space • To orient new infrastructure considering various parameters • To align with the existing infrastructure • To provide for future expansion

NEED • To Maximize play area for children • To use contours for better aesthetical & economical advantages • To accommodate Community Demands • To Construct Toilets as per strength of Girls & Boys • To Protect existing Trees & natural features • To improve & update project implementation methods

PROCESS • Systematic data collection of existing infrastructure & status of built environment by engineers with a view for WSDP • Measuring school campus • Analysis of data as per RTE • Training to Engineers , Architects, Assistant Architect & SMCs • To prepare prototype & site specific designs

Approach • Data Collection • Campus measurement • Assessment of requirement • Location of activity School Level Engineer /Teachers Students /Community (SMC) • AutoCAD Drawing of Campus • measurement • Verification of requirement as per • RTE • Placement of prototype design • If Prototype design does not set , • layout submitted to SPO District Level District Project Engineer Architect / Engineer • Development of Site specific • design • Preparation of detailed architectural • drawings • Preparation of detailed structural • drawing as per respective seismic • zone • Site specific design included in • prototype design library Architect / Engineer SPO Level AutoCAD Operator

PROCESS • Salient features of the school campus layout • North Direction • Contours of the ground and adjacent road. • Existing infrastructure in the school campus • - School Building , MDM Kitchen Shed, Toilet Block, • Water Facility, BaLA elements, Compound wall • - Trees & Gardens • - Damaged rooms to be removed • - H.T./ L.T. Electric Line • - Any other structure • Required dimensions • Surrounding structures • Photograph from different directions

SCHOOL DESIGN FEATURES • Architectural Features • Area for classrooms and verandah as per RTE • 2 doors for each classroom • Sufficient Light and ventilation • Provision of cupboards for students & teachers • Staircase- width, tread, riser, handrail as per IS code • Number of stair case as per strength of student • Provision of ramp and handrail for disabled • Provision for shoe rack • Plinth protection • Seating for students in the verandah for casual gathering
