Ballads . Definition. Ballad: is a song or a songlike poem that tells a story.  Focus is usually about lost love, betrayal, or death. Ballads can be sad or humorous. Elements of a ballad:  simple language  repetition - refrain  regular meter (stressed and unstressed syllables)
