  2. Proposal Format • Four page submission typed with max. 1/3 page used for pics • Powerpoint Presentation for the class • Presentation Dates: Friday, September 27 • Winning Proposal wins the $20 • All completed proposal will be purchased for $5

  3. Evaluation Page One – Setting/Characters /10 Page Two – Plot Outline /10 Page Three – P.O.V. with one Para /5 Page Four – Theme/Message /5 Powerpoint: Slides with pics, basic points from typed submission /20

  4. Choose Fantasy or Sci-Fi!

  5. Fantasy • Magic and make-believe • Alternate worlds, planes of existence • Think of “Lord of the Rings” or “Legend”

  6. Sci-Fi Seems fantastic yet scientifically possible or explained

  7. Page One - SETTING SETTING is key for establishing the story List your where, your when, etc From the “Elements of Short Stories”

  8. Page One - CHARACTER Person or persons in your story Note what they represent, or what type of leader/character, what they physically look like, traits, etc

  9. Page Two - PLOT Inciting Incident Problem(s) to be solved Rising Action (Complications) Climax Falling Action Resolution Type of Confict

  10. Page Three – P.O.V. • You tell us what type of viewpoint, 1st person (through eyes of a character) or third person • Give one sample paragraph showing this POV • Use samples from the short stories in your binders for inspiration

  11. Page Four – Theme/Message • Basically, the overall theme/idea promoted by the story • Also include any extras on this page, such as pics, etc

  12. POWERPOINT • Outlines your proposal for the class • Maximum 10 slides plus title slide • Use simple phrases and pics • You want to sellthis proposal!
