  1. Safety Tips for Mechanical Engineer

  2. Introduction: - Engineering is a bright career opportunity and every year millions of students aspire to become engineers in different niches. Engineering has different verticals like Computer, electrical, Mechanical, and different others. Out of all the engineering opportunities, mechanical presents a vast work area and good perks. However, at the same time, a mechanical engineer has to follow different safety tips while performing their duties. Safety tips as follows:- • Personal protective equipment (PPE):- A mechanical engineer has to perform all sorts of work like flange management, designing, evaluating, building different mechanical devices, and heavy machinery. These all works involve risk. While working as a Smiths Connector, they have to keep themselves from falling or rolling hazards. Many times, there is a risk of fire while working. Keeping given all the risks involved, occupational safety and health administration has mandated every mechanical engineer to wear PPE while performing their duty. Furthermore, PPE should be made from excellent material and proper checks and balances are required before and after use. PPE inspection is the responsibility of the employer before a mechanical engineer goes to perform flange management.

  3. Awareness about hazardous chemicals: - A mechanical engineer involves dealing with hazardous chemicals. Proper training and awareness are a must about commonly used chemicals. Precautions while handling those chemicals must be performed without fail. If possible, an employer should provide first aid training to mechanical engineers joining them to work as smith’s connector. First aid training helps in saving lives at the time of need. A note indicating the presence of chemicals at different locations must be displayed at every prominent entry and exit points. A mechanical engineer should also maintain material safety data sheets (MSDS) for different chemicals. In the past, there have been many accidents and incidents due to the involvement of hazardous chemicals. • SOP on the pressurized piping system: - Almost all industries required energy and other resources for day to day functionalities. The pressurized pipe is one of the ways to transfer gas, water, oil, and other liquid and gas things from one place to another place. It involves air compressors and other pressurized systems that are very risky when not handled through proper manners. That’s why flange management is given that much importance in the industrial safety parameter. While working on a pressurized piping system, a mechanical engineer should follow the utmost care because it has flammable materials. Some vacuum systems of pressurized pipe also store large quantities of energy and had the potential to pose a risk to man and material.

  4. Good Housekeeping practices: - In the past, some industrial accidents had also happened due to wrong housekeeping. Housekeeping is not an easy subject, and a mechanical engineer should always give great importance to housekeeping. It involves what material should be kept in which location. You cannot store inflammable and flammable material in the same place. They must be good at managing exit doors in an emergency. Spills, debris, and other waste material should not be lying into the common entrance and exit points. In the storeroom, proper installation of fire extinguishers must be ensured. • Conclusions: - For a mechanical engineer there are one-liner safety tips take care of yourself; you are a precious human resource for the company, your family, society, country, and mankind. Apply your intelligence and knowledge before indulging in any work that involves risk. Always follow the standard operating procedures of safety.
