  1. The Best Way to Help Prevent  Hyperpigmentation on Your Skin  Hyperpigmentation is one of the most common skin concerns—it’s so  common, in fact, that you are likely to experience it in your lifetime. You  might not even know that you already have it. The condition pertains to  having excess pigment in your skin, with the words ‘hyper’ meaning  ‘excessive’ or ‘over’ and pigmentation pertaining to the skin tissue’s natural  colouring.  When your skin generates more melanin than normal, it becomes darker,  discoloured, or appears as patches or dark spots. All of those are considered  hyperpigmentation. But melanin is part of your skin’s defence mechanism  against trauma in the form of a cut, scratch, or any other incident that breaks  the surface of your skin, including sun exposure. Because of trauma, the skin  reacts by producing melanocytes, the cells that form melanin to protect itself.

  2. The cells go to the surface of your skin, resulting in discolouration, sun spots,  darker pigments, patches of darkened skin, or dark spots.  While there are many people who are trying to find ways to get rid of it, it also  makes sense to find ways to prevent it. To do that, it makes sense to identify  and understand the most common causes of pigmentation:  1. Heat  Hyperpigmentation can be triggered by environmental heat, even if you are  religious about applying sunscreen and skincare, and you wear protective  clothing. That’s because thermal heat can encourage melanocytes to  activate.  2. Hormones  Too much pigmentation can be caused by pregnancy or by taking the pill,  and it can worsen with heat and sun exposure.  3. Injury  Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation occurs when there is injury or trauma  to the skin in the form of a wound, burn, prick of a needle, etc.  4. Skin inflammation  This is another form of injury that can occur when you have an allergic  reaction or got bitten by an insect.  5. Certain medications  Some medicines can trigger hormonal changes and make your body  produce more melanin, resulting in pigmentation.

  3. Certain conditions like Addison’s Disease and acne may also cause your skin  to produce more melanin than usual.  WHY YOU SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOUR PIGMENTATION  To put it simply, hyperpigmentation makes you look older than your actual  age. In some cases, it could have a greater ageing effect than wrinkles and  fine lines. That’s because hyperpigmentation makes your skin tone look  uneven. Even if you think that you can conceal that with make-up, it would  take some effort and time to do that, and there is a risk that the  pigmentation can still show when the concealer or foundation fades or runs.  Moreover, too much make-up could also make you look older.  Besides, wouldn’t you want to look natural and be able to confidently show  your skin without having to go through the hassle of concealing it? So, the  best way to go about the condition is to get rid of it or at least prevent it.  Don’t worry because there are products that can help you treat and prevent  hyperpigmentation. Consider looking into the products offered by Danné  Montague-King®. DMK Skin Treatments are focused on improving your skin’s  long-term health rather than providing quick and temporary fixes.  IF YOU HAVE HYPERPIGMENTATION, YOU SHOULD BE USING  THESE PRODUCTS  DMK Skin Products are your best choice against pigmentation. Their concept  is to ‘remove, rebuild, protect, and maintain’ to regulate and enhance the  skin’s internal structures and functions optimally.  DMK Enzyme Therapy is their signature product that is used to oxygenate,  nourish, tone, and strengthen the skin, so that it may look and feel younger  and healthier. It’s the base for all other DMK Skin Treatments and home  prescriptive programs aimed at helping you achieve long-term results.

  4. If your hyperpigmentation is caused by inflammation, consider DMK Skin  Desquaplex Pigmentation, which will help brighten the skin. It’s a milder  treatment that lifts away unwanted pigment on darker skin tones, while  preventing further pigmentation.
