Professional Councils recognised by the CETA • Professional Councils included in the Council for the Built Environment Act (2000) for: • Architecture • Project and Construction Management • Engineering • Landscape Architecture • Property Valuers • Quantity Surveyors • Councils under the Acts for: • Land Surveyors • Town and Regional Planners

  4. Representation of the Professionals • The Built Environment Professional Consultancy employer bodies for all professions: • Established Consultancies: Bill Schutz (SAACE) • Emerging Consultancies: Kelvin Radebe (SABTACO) • Professional Councils: Samuel Pauw (Architect)

  5. Accreditation of training and refund of levies • NQF levels 1 – 4 The CETA has clearly defined systems for accreditation • NQF levels 5 – 8 The CETA will rely on the inputs from the Professional Councils

  6. Qualification for levy refunds (whether training up to professional registration or post registration) • CETA manages the process using its various committees in accordance with the SAQA Act • CETA committees are the Skills Development Committee and the National Sub-Sector Committees • A partnership will be formed between CETA, the Councils (eg ECSA), SAQA and the Council for Higher Education (CHE) • Employers of professional consultants represented by the Committee for the Built Environment Professionals (chair Bill Schutz)

  7. Progress to date • The various committees are relatively new and still in the process of establishing the detail of their roles and operations • Aspects of how professional level training is to be defined and accredited are still in the process of being worked out • Unit standards for professionals still have to be written
