  3. Literal Meaning Any numerous limbless scaled reptiles with a long tapering body and with salivary glands often modified to produce venom which is injected through tubular fangs.

  4. Symbolisn Snakes represent power and fear.

  5. “What does the word humanity mean? How is humanity present in part one? How is it absent?” Humanity means the equality or state of being humane. Humanity is not really present in part one because of the peoples action. The only person somewhat humane would be Clarisse. Mildred is an example of why humanity is absent in part one. She only watches T.V. “it’ll be even more fun when we can afford to have the fourth wall installed. How long you figure before we save up and get the fourth wall torn out and a fourth wall-T.V put in? it’s only two-thousand dollars” (Bradbury 20). Also. When Mildred tells Montag about the death of Clarrise, she shows no sympathy. Most of the time when the idea of death is brought up, people show compassion and empathy. Mildred didn’t show either of these, she started to listen to her shells.
