  2. SATOP MISSION STATEMENT The Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program provides a FREE service designed to speed the transfer of space technology to the private sector by assisting small businesses facing technical challenges.

  3. Bringing Space Technology Down To Earth Expertise At A Glance Mechanical Chemical Electronics Electrical Fluids Robotics Manufacturing Statistical Analysis Industrial Environmental Structural Power > > > > SATOP was created specifically for small businesses. Businesses include but are not limited to: Consumer Goods, Technology, Manufacturing, Distribution, Safety & Protection, Electrical, Transportation and more.

  4. Types of Challenges • Logistics • Machinery • Manufacturing and Assembly • Measurement and Testing • Optical • Physical Testing of Materials • Power Systems • Precision machining • Production Processes • Robotics and Automation • Sensors and Detectors • Statistical Analysis • Actuators, Regulators, Motion Control • Chemical Analysis • Chemical or Material Selection • Controllers and Control Systems • Electrical Circuitry • Electronics • Facilities Design, Operation, Maintenance • Fiber optics • Fluidics, Pneumatics & Hydraulics • Fuel Cells • Image Processing • Instrumentation

  5. Guidelines for Submitting a Request for Technical Assistance (RTA) > > > > The RTA must have a distinct and identifiable problem. For example, “Design and create an entire new machine” is too broad an example. For each request, the technical problem must appear to be solvable within 40-hour time allotment. Guidelines For non-developed products, the company or person requesting must have a prototype or specific drawings. However, this is subjective depending on the nature of the request. The requester cannot receive technical assistance if the solution can be provided by existing products, technologies and/or services.

  6. Submitting a Request www.spacetechsolutions.com/bahep Describe your challenge. What have you done to date? What result are you looking for?

  7. Submit The Request, RTA • Bookmark: www.spacetechsolutions.com/bahep • Click on Submit Request for Technical Assistance • Review Guidelines and Request Form • Click I Agree to submit request • Complete Request form information • Submit RTA • SATOP Project Engineer will scope the RTA • AP Engineer will ‘take’ your RTA • SATOP PE will facilitate teleconference with you and your Rocket Scientist to solve your challenge • within 40 engineering hours • within 90-day timeframe

  8. A Partnership That’s Out of This World • SATOP is made up of Space Alliance Partners • which include: • NASA Centers • NASA Contractors • Universities and Colleges • These groups provide the • technical resources needed to support • Requests for Technical Assistance (RTAs).
