  2. Updated Planning • March: SC2, sustained 100 MB/s disk-disk DONE! • April: new disks, new network DONE! • May: new hardware, install & test SRM/dCache • June: tape tests, reduced bandwidth • July: SC3, sustained 50 MB/s disk-tape • August: vacation 

  3. Rembrand Cluster: New disksthanks to group of the UvA • Used a cluster of 4 nodes for SC2: • The whole cluster is bigger (9 nodes) • 64-bit dual Opteron at 2 GHz and 3 GB RAM • 2 (SATA) data and 1 system disk 250 GB per node • Reached ~40 MByte/s writing • 1 Gb/s fiber NIC • Now upgraded to: • 12 disks (250 GB) per node • 4 nodes RAID0, and 4 nodes RAID5 • Test with RAID5 system shows ~100 MByte/s writing ? • Test with RAID0 not done yet • 10 Gb/s fiber NIC on all nodes

  4. More new hardwareto connect to SARA SAN Arrived: • 3 Dell Power Edge 1850 • 32-bit dual Xeon at 3.0 GHz and 4 GB RAM • 2 SCSI system disks • I/O Riser card • 1 Dell PowerConnect 5324 Not yet arrived: • SGI TP9300 Storage array • 14 x 250 Gbyte SATA disks • 2 x 9940B tape drives

  5. SC3 set up 10 Gb/s Force10 UvA cluster 1 Gb/s Internal Gigabit Network 1 Gb/s SAN HSM Shared FS Fiber Channel LCG tape drives New hardware

  6. New Network10 Gbit/s tests 10 G/sec has been configured • Problem: WAN-PHY to LAN-PHY conversion • Borrowed Foundry from Canadians (Wade Yong) • Univ. of ALberta may keep it until end July June: Vancouver 10G/sec tests • For 3 weeks • We swap our 10G with their 2 x 1G • End June: swap back

  7. May • tests with 10 G and new disk array • Huub, Sander • Install and test SRM & dCache on new hardware • Mark, Ron

  8. June • Swap network with Vancouver • Pieter, Paolo • First tape tests • Mark, Huub,Ron • End June • swap back • final preparations for SC3
