Statutory? • What does the word statutory means? • The term statutory is derived from the word, statute, which means it is a law that has been enacted by the legislative branch of a government. • Therefore, the federal government has different federal statutes that provide protections against discrimination.

  3. Federal Statutes • In the United States, the federal government has approximately 11 statutes that provide protections against discrimination. • This presentation will briefly discuss each federal statute that covers the area of discrimination.

  4. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 • This statues protects against what? • Race • Color • National Origin • This statute states that they cannot be discriminate against if they are participating in federally assisted programs and activities.
