  1. What Are The Different Types Of Vegetables Boxed Used For Packaging? Correct packing of fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the most important steps in the long and complicated journey from the producer to the consumer. Farmers use bags, crates, vegetable boxes, bulk bins etc for packing these perishable goods. Convenient containers are generally used for handling, transporting and marketing the fresh produce of the producers. Farmers buy cardboard boxes for safeguarding their produce, which contributes significantly to the overall production cost. The type of produce, the shelf life and the distance to be travelled play a significant role in deciding the package or the box type. The different types of boxes that are available for the packaging of fruits and vegetables are:  Waxed boxes: Wax boxes can be used for packaging of particular fruits and vegetables. They are generally used for cold storage facilities. These boxes are strong and offer high levels of water resistance. Most of these packed boxes are transferred through refrigerated trucks and delivers to customers in the same condition it was packed in. these boxes can be customised by printing the company’s name or other details.  Un-waxed cartons: these type of cartons are excellent for presenting the produce at the market as they can be reopened and closed easily, allowing inspection of the products, without damaging the packaging. The rate of absorption of moisture is also very less if virgin boxes are used. Few people use these boxes along with liners to help unnecessary moisture penetration.

  2.  Trays: Few vegetables that need fresh air for staying fresh are packed in trays. Transparent polythene is spread on the produce with few perforated holes for fresh air to pass through. Few trays are available in a two-piece format to serve fruits and vegetables. They can be folded and stored for later use.  Grape cartons: these type of cartons come with perforated holes. Many times, companies ask for the company name to be printed on the boxes. The specialty of these boxes is that it allows grapes to be fresh for a long time.  Costco trays: These boxes look similar to trays but have an extension on the four corners, which help for stacking of boxes one upon others without damaging the fruits and vegetables. Most of these boxes are made from high-quality material so that the moisture and other factors do not affect the quality of food. These boxes help in easy transfer of the easily perishable goods.
