  1. Jesus is God! – Study of LukePart 15-Greatness is found in Servant hood” Luke 22:24-30

  2. Who’s the Greatest?

  3. Luke 22:24-30 24 Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ 26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.

  4. Luke 22:24-30 27 For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves. 28 “But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. 29 And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, 30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

  5. BIG IDEA: Are You Serving With a Smile?

  6. Servant hood Requiresa Reorientationof the Heart Philippians 2:1–4 1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

  7. Servant hood Requiresa Reorientationof the Heart • Pride • Arrogance • Low self-esteem • Depression • Humility • Serve Others • Life has purpose • Joy and Happiness

  8. Servant hood Performsthe Actions of Serving John 13:1-20-Washing of the disciples’ feet Philippians 2:5–8 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

  9. Servant hood Performsthe Actions of Serving This passage of Scripture takes place during the last supper wherein Jesus serves His disciples by washing their feet (John 13:1-20). Jesus wasn’t simply teaching religious platitudes, but rather He was doing what He was teaching. James puts it this way, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” One must do more than give lip service to the concept of serving, but they must indeed serve!

  10. Servant hood Seeks theApproval of God not Men Philippians 2:9–11 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  11. Servant hood Seeks theApproval of God not Men This last point is a BIGone. It is human nature to become discouraged and misdirected in our pursuit of approval while doing the right thing. Many times we can find ourselves doing the “right” thing because we desperately want the approval of men. How can we tell if we are serving for wrong reasons? Ask yourself the question, “How do I respond when someone treats me like a servant while I have just chosen to serve them?”
