  1. In this series of articles, I will be sharing all my tips and tricks that helped me lose 40 pounds this year and keep it off. After years of yo-yo diets and workout plans, I finally found the plan that worked and also developed my arsenal of tips and tricks to help me lose weight quickly and keep it off for good. One of the first things I learnt to do was to keep track of everything that I ate. If you have weight loss goals, stop and do this right now. Go out and buy yourself a blank journal, buy one that is small and light enough for you to carry with you everywhere and I mean everywhere and all the time. On the first page of your journal write down your goal weight, label the next 21 pages from 1 to 21. For the next 21 days you will be tracking every single thing that you eat and drink in your journal, along with the portions and also the timings. Don't worry about the calories, or about the fact that you may be eating too much or too little, your goal is simply to understand what you eat and when and where. At the end of 21 days, get out your journal and look to see where you are over eating or eating the wrong foods. - Are you eating too much fat or sugar at breakfast? - Do you drink too much soda? - Do you drink too much beer or alcohol? - What are you snacking on? Is it healthy? - Are you eating too much bread or other carbs? You get the picture. Your food journal, tells you what you are eating too much off and too little off (i.e. fruit and vegetables), armed with this knowledge you can make quick and easy changes to the way you eat and you will definitely see the pounds drop off before you know it.
