Compounding Pharmacies503A vs. 503 B 503A 503B Compounding entity that may register as an outsourcing facility Must compound in compliance with CGMP or under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a registered facility Must also report information to the FDA about compounded drugs such as source of ingredients Must adhere to new quality standards • Compounders not registered as outsourcing facilities • Only exempt from certain aspects of 503B • Still must meet all applicable conditions of the FDCA
