  7. FI-WARE: Targeting developers needs What How Developer Community and Tools Connect apps to the physical world IoT-M2M Enablers Manage open data at large scale and transform it into knowledge Built-in APIs & tools Data/Context Enablers Benefit from open innovation(crowd-sourcing, apps composition) Integration and Composition Enablers Business & Delivery Framework (revenue-share, cross-selling, …) Reach target users, monetize Ensuring Privacy, Security and Trust Advanced Cloud Enablers Security Enablers Take the most of infrastructures while keeping costs lower and under control Enablers easing interface to Network and Devices access from everywhere, adapt to devices

  8. Basic principles about FI-WARE GEs • GE specifications are open (public and royalty-free) • Any implementation of a Generic Enabler (GEI) is made up of a set of components which together supports a concrete set of Functions and APIs that are in compliance with the open specifications published for that GE • There might be multiple compliant implementations of a given GE • The FI-WARE project is delivering a reference implementation of FI-WARE GEs based upon results of previous R&D projects

  9. Basic facts about FI-WARE GEs • On 31st July 2013 more than 60 GEIs have made available (catalogue.fi-ware.eu) • Terms and conditions for the usage of GEIs have been defined according to: • Experimentation/testing within the FI-PPP • FI-WARE Open Innovation Lab (FI-LAB) • External availability • Most of GEIs are Open Source and all will be after the core platform extension • All GEIs have at least a large industry as GEI owner • Several strategic statements have been discussed directly to Mrs. NeelieKroes

  10. Take the most of infrastructures while keeping costs lower and under control Cloud Enablers

  25. Basic facts on FI-Lab • The FI-WARE Open Innovation Lab is a FI-WARE Instance. It: • Provides Cloud hosting capabilities so third parties can run experimental Future Internet Applications and test them • Make a selection of Generic Enablers implementations available for experimentation: • Global accessible instances provided “as a Service” • Deployable as dedicated instances by application providers using Cloud blueprint management functions • Each FI-WARE Gei has a specific support tracker • Users can setup accounts, adhering to certain terms and conditions • FI-Lab launched on 3rd September 2013 • Developer contests: • London 3-6 Sept 2013 at CampusParty • beginning of 2014

  26. What comes next • Ambitious FI-WARE promotion campaign (4,2 M€ investment during May 2013 – April 2014 period) • Launch of the FI-WARE Open Innovation Lab at London Campus Party (September 3-8) • Presence in 50 startup weekend events across Europe • Hackathons, Development contests (700 K€ in awards) • 100 M€ of funding for SMEs and Web entrepreneurs developing products on top of FI-WARE: • to be canalized through incubators, accelerators, SME associations • projects starting in 2014 • Design and deployment of pan-European FI-WARE trial facility to be launched in April 2014 • Proposal for Technology Foundation continuation phase (23 M€) 25
