The Ghost Story: A Genre • Story in which the spirit of a person no longer bound by “natural laws”, haunts a place • Ghost will try to communicate an injustice, enact revenge, or complete unfinished business • Does not include demonic pact, vampires, werewolves, or poltergeists • Pre-date written literature/belong to oral tradition • Disappeared until Gothic novel (I.e. Frankenstein)
